NANOTHAILAND
19 Jun - 10 Aug 2008
100 Tonson Gallery proudly presents an art exhibition “NANOTHAILAND”, the latest photography installationof the new generation distinguished artist, MONTRI

NANOTHAILAND is a series of photographs that addresses the artist's interest in cultural hybridism. The artist has photographed so-called minorities going about their daily lives in Thailand. Montri's subjects include immigrants, refugees and exiles. However, rather than reinforcing the idea of a minority - the idea that some people are essentially different from a general populace – Montri asks us to consider the fact that all societies and cultures are fundamentally a melting pot of differences. The exhibition deals with his background as a native Laotian speaker with a Thai identity through to the influence of his travels, his horror at the recent actions of the Myanmar junta and Thailand's current debates about censorship and 'Thai-ness'. NANOTHAILAND promises to be one of Montri's most powerful exhibitions to date.

The exhibition will be held during Thursday 19 June – Sunday 10 August 2008 and the Opening reception will be on Thursday 19 June, 2008.

100 Tonson Gallery would like to announce its new exhibition
Beyond…”, an art of dharmic truth on canvas by top avantgarde artist,
Kamin Lertchaiprasert.
Beyond…” also brings beholders a silent wonder on the connection of puzzle of religious precepts He stated that “Some matters can’t be perceivable by human senses; some visible matters can’t understandable by eyesight.A question on a limitation among the communication, the truth and the front sight is a challenge to reach human passion; love, greed, anger and lust.”

From his conceptual framework to a mixed media installation, 24 pieces of Kamin’s work on canvases hanging on the wall and one piece of enormous sculpture created by his friend, Udom Udomsrianan for this exclusive exhibition are set in the main hall. Those substantial pieces of art will attract audiences to use their visual perception to perceive what the front sights are and apply their mental perception to interpret what the whole front figure is.

Myths & Monstrosities
Peggy Wauters

14 February - 20 April 2008

100 Tonson Gallery is very pleased to present an exhibition of Peggy Wauters’s sculptural ceramics and works on paper titled Myths and Monstrosities. This is the Belgian artist’s first solo exhibition in Asia.

Peggy Wauters creates humanoid forms that bespeak extreme experience. From physical mutation and disintegration to the evocation of profound psychological states, Wauter’s sculptures and drawings are an art of provocation and contemplation.

Drawing inspiration from the symbolic status of society’s ‘others’, such as prisoners, orphans and the disabled, the artist employs a personal interpretation of codes and conventions that signify human frailty and folly. Historically resonant narratives, allegories and allusions are explored to produce a particular vision of basic human fears and feelings for the contemporary climate. A vision, it needs to be said, shot through with an almost perverse sense of humour. Wauters’s exaggerated forms can be both mocking and sympathetic.

The exhibition will be on view Thursday February 14 – Sunday April 20, 2008 (Thursday – Friday, 11 am. – 7pm.)
